85-90% of the sound of an electric guitar comes from the pickups. The other 10-15% is a combination of things including the body wood, neck wood, fret board, bridge and nut, overall weight of the guitar and other things. The list goes on. But if your guitar only sounds 90% good, in my opinion that is not good enough. If you pick up guitars made of different woods and strum them unplugged you can hear, and feel, the resonance of the wood.

You here a lot of talk about tone woods and resonance. But wait, the pickup is not a microphone. It is not picking up air vibrations. There is a vibrating metal line (the string) that is interrupting a magnetic field. How could the wood effect the output sound? Actually there are two ways it effects the sound, two very important and significant ways

There are many elements that make up the sound. The first actually makes me contradict myself in my tone woods discussion where I say 90% of the tone comes from the pickups. The truth is that 90% of the tone comes from the first element making up the sound of the guitar - the player.

We are about incredible Electric Guitars (and some basses). Not acoustic guitars, not amps and definitely not Asian things with 6 strings that are called guitars... just high quality, excellent looking and sounding guitars.

When we ventured away from proven designs that spanned back into the 50s we found that you can't just change the body shape or configuration without a lot of strange things happening.

Nashville is never boring, especially when the NAMM show is going on. We had a great time, saw some great stuff and met some great people.
